Theta Chi is a men's social fraternity founded in April 1856, with 131 active chapters across the United States and Canada. Founded in 1948, the Gamma Xi chapter of Theta Chi is the longest continuously active fraternity at
San Jose State University. Over 1,300 men have been brothers of Gamma Xi, including four-time Olympian Ed Burke, Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Al Saunders, and Bay Area television personality Ross McGowan.
